There Are Alternatives To Abortion

The birth of a child is one of the most significant life events in a person's life. Given its consequence, it would be unfair to not also recognize that the changes and responsibilities that come along with raising a child are not always easy to fulfill. For individuals that find themselves in this type of situation, abortion is not always the only option. There are abortion alternatives that can be considered.

Family Support

If you are facing an unplanned pregnancy, ideally, the first place you should look is to your family. There is often a misconception that family members might judge someone in this situation or turn their backs on them, but this is often not the case.

A family member may be willing to go through the process with you and even provide support once the child is born until you can manage things on your own. Alternatively, you may have a family member who is willing to adopt the child as well. Make sure you speak up and ask for help.

Mentoring and Social Services

It would be unfair to say that raising a child is easy, especially if you are not prepared for the task. However, it is important to distinguish that the task is not an impossible one to complete. With the right support, you can make it through these challenging times.

Consider reaching out to a local community organization or social services organization to find out what type of mentorship or assistance programs they have available in your area. Many of these programs can help provide you with the support you need to be successful.

Closed Adoption

Another alternative is a closed adoption. With this option, you can partner with an adoption agency or a social services organization to facilitate the process. Unlike a family adoption, details about the child's final adoption will likely remain confidential.

However, given the vetting process that is required for adoptive parents, you can have peace of mind from knowing that your child will be afforded a good life, in a healthy environment, with loving parents to support them. Keep in mind that you can generally get a lot of information about this option and have a lot of time to think before you commit to anything.

This situation can be complicated and difficult to discuss. However, there are professionals available who will work with you, support you, and protect your confidentiality to the fullest extent.
